Thanks I didn't even know about headphone amps.
Looks like the senn, or akg might be the way to go.

Looking on craigslist for some deals as well but want to make shure my Ipod will power them.

Last pair was $100 and stolen out of my car w my laptop last week :(

The AKG-K701's are the standout headphones right now. Depending on discount, you should be able to pick them up for $250-400. I used to have the Sennheiser HD650s, but replaced them with the AKG-K701s. The Sennheisers have a more spacious sound, but it's a bit bass-heavy with less definition in the midrange to treble. The AKGs are pretty much everything I'd dreamed of headphones being. Definitely check them out.
